Stratford-Upon-Avon Markets

Stratford has held a market since medieval times, and was granted the right to hold weekly markets in 1196 by King Richard I. In pre-industrial England, when there were not many shops, it was a place where farmers and their wives could gather on a certain day of the week to sell their produce. In Stratford, market day is Friday, or you can experience a real farmer's market on the first and third Saturday of each month.
